SWAN LAKE

Bay Street Players is please to welcome Lake/Marion Ballet Company back to the historic State Theatre for a limited run of Swan Lake from June 23–25, 2023.

Swan Lake tells the tragic love story of Prince Siegfried, who falls in love with the beautiful Swan Queen, Odette, and swears his allegiance and undying love to her. As a result of a curse by the evil sorcerer Baron von Rothbart, Odette can only take human form between midnight and daybreak; only faithful, true love can break the spell.

To prevent his spell from being broken, von Rothbart transforms his own daughter, Odile, to look exactly like Odette. Dressed in black, she is presented to Price Siegfried at his birthday party, tricking him.

With a timeless, soaring score by Pyoty Ilyich Tchaikovsky, an array of enchanting solos, spectacular pas de deuxs, and atmospheric corps de ballet sequences, it is no wonder Swan Lake remains one of the world’s most beloved ballets.

This production of Swan Lake is adapted and choreographed by Lake/Marion Ballet Company’s Artistic Director, Chester Anderson.
